Daily Habits of Millionaires That Will Change Your Life

Daily habits of millionaires

The young Elon Musk read at least 10 hours a day before he grew up and became the CEO of Tesla. Steve Jobs would wake up at 6:00 A.M. to work, have breakfast with his family, and work again from 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. every single day. Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, starts his day on the treadmill for one hour while watching courses from the Teaching Company.

As you can see, developing a routine can help create a sense of manageability and responsibility in life. Routines can help people cope with daily expectations, including challenges, stress, and mental health in a positive way. In one of my previous articles, I’ve discussed how to start building good daily habits. If you think you are ready to take your daily habits of millionaires on an upgrade and want to learn what millionaires do in their daily lives, check this out:

Daily habits of millionaires have a morning routine and they practice it

Aside from an established business and bank account, millionaires have a specific routine to follow in their daily lives. Having a routine helps you create positive daily habits of millionaires that promote self-care and organization. With a routine at hand, you organize your time around things that essentially matter, like school or work, finances, and social life. It keeps you from being stressed about constantly running around late or forgetting a vital matter to do for that particular day.

According to a scientific study done by Phillippa Lally, a health psychology researcher at University College London, it takes more than 2 months for daily habits to become autopilot. That is 66 days, to be exact. And the length can vary depending on an individual’s behavior and circumstances. In Lally’s study, it took anywhere from 18 days to 254 days for people to form a new daily habits. This was published in the European Journal of Social Psychology.

I understand if you’re coming from a messed-up background or starting from zero-productivity daily habits and don’t really know where to begin creating a power routine. My advice is to start with at least a morning routine and add gradually later on until you can do a full-day routine. Even Barack Obama follows a strict morning workout routine by doing weights and cardio at 6:45am before he eats breakfast with his family and helps his daughters pack for school.

You may start by simply waking up at your desired time, having breakfast, and listing five things you wish to accomplish on that particular day. Remember: you are what you repeatedly do, and repetition is the father of learning.

Millionaires Practice Writing and Journaling

Journals aren’t just diaries. They come in many forms — learning journals, budget and finance journals, or business progress journals. With the help of journaling and writing, you have a record of your activities. In your journal, you can visit your goals and assess your performance. Let’s discuss them one by one.

You can come up with a daily journal and list what you have accomplished on a particular day. You can be surprised with how many you have done, or you may also be informed if you have backlogs to catch or work with. Learning journals are also helpful when you have to take notes of essential lessons or quotes that you’ve read in a book or watched on Youtube. Budget and finance journals help track your income and outflow. Business progress journals are essential, especially for businessmen and millionaires, because it helps them keep track of the records of their businesses and assets.

For millionaires, writing introduces you to your own accountability system by itemizing your goals to keep track of your intentions better. It allows you to write down your experiences and thoughts and use them to identify your future goals and aims.

Millionaires have a ‘THINK WEEK’

There’s not much research on Think Weeks yet, but this is simply how millionaires take a week off and go out of the city to think, read, and assess their live performances. Bill Gates is known for taking ‘think week.’ He would take two weeks out of every year away from WiFi, gadgets, and society and go to a cabin in the woods where he chooses to spend time reading, learning, recovering, and improving.

For those who might be working on your computer offices or home computers five or seven days a week, you know how much distraction, exhaustion, and burnout you have to deal with 24/7. So for millionaires or billionaires like Bill Gates and many others, taking a think week allows you to sit down and assess your bigger goals in life and your finances. You might miss these topics or ideas when you’re all swamped out in your meetings and weekly projects.

A 'think week' is like a week-long date with your thoughts.

Millionaires make friends and connections

Even if millionaires and businessmen are the most prominent people out there, they make it to a point to socialize and meet friends. This daily habit gives them a sense of work and life balance. Aside from being a breather from work, making and meeting friends allow you to build connections and expand your network and net worth.

The people you choose to spend the most time with contribute to who you are and what you may become. Big businesses and businessmen don’t thrive alone on their own. You’ll never know how one lunch out or one coffee session can make a significant impact on your life

Importance of Daily Routines for Millionaires

In a study published in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, good daily habits of millionaires that develop during the early stages of an individual determine success throughout life. They found out that poor daily habits lead to negative behaviors such as quitting jobs and dropping out of school, leading to an unsuccessful life. Who would want to live an unsuccessful life? Go out there and see it for yourself how having a daily habit or routine just makes the day easier. The sense of productivity and manageability on what to do or expect on that day that good daily habits give is priceless.

You don’t have to do exactly as the millionaires do in their daily lives. I know every person is different. But try to find a good daily habit or routine that lets you start the day clearly and end the day smoothly. You’ll be surprised at how much change this could do in your life.
