A productive day starts with a healthy morning routine list. In fact, 92% of highly productive people are likely guided by their morning routine. However, it can be overwhelming to choose from a wide array of routine activities to do first thing in the morning. What makes a morning routine effective? This article summarizes the main points of a good morning routine list.
Morning routines are at the core of nurturing your physical and mental energy. At the biological level, people are wired to enjoy specific activities through a morning routine, improving both brain function and physical wellness. What you do first thing in the morning impacts your performance throughout the day. As a result, many morning routines start earlier to complete all the essential tasks that boost their productivity.
Mornings typically begin when the sun rises, but morning routines can start as early as 4am or as late as 9am, with most falling somewhere in between. Generally, a 5am morning routine is suitable for many working individuals who have 9-to-5 schedules.
It can be confusing where to start when there are several daily tasks you can consider in your morning routine list. Dividing them into categories makes it easier to manage and clarifies its benefits. The following are 3 major categories for most optimal morning routines:
Giving your body the nutrients it needs to function includes ample sleep and a healthy breakfast. However, taking care of your body also involves external pain. Exposure to natural sunlight, doing light exercise, and taking cold showers signals the release of certain hormones that help manage stress and improve your mood. Work around what your body needs rather than settling for what you find most pleasurable for a more fulfilling 5am morning routine. Adding your own personal touch to an activity can also help you follow through, such as listening to your own morning playlist.
You might be bombarded by a load of tasks you have to accomplish, including house chores, errands, and work duties. Taking the time to clear your mind with meditation first thing in the morning reduces stress and pressure, allowing you to focus on all your responsibilities objectively. Writing down reminders and planning your day helps keep track of time and hold you more accountable for doing the things you set out to do.
With digital devices taking over our personal and professional lives, it is important to create a natural balance to ground you in reality. This can be done by simply changing your alarm sound into pleasant music or ambience to complement natural sounds in the morning, such as chirping birds. Human connection through short greetings also keeps you grounded in your environment. Starting your day does not require drastic change from your existing routine. Making time to moderately indulge in a hobby first thing in the morning can also help you stay connected with your sense of self.
